
NSS
In the year 1995 first NSS unit was established at Jhunjhunwala PG College. Initially it was for Girls. Later on in 2002 one unit for boys was also started with the aim of serving the weaker section of the community, solving the problems of the local population . In Jhunjhunwala PG College currently two units of NSS are working. In each unit there are 100 volunteers .two trained program officers has been approved for these units.First unit Mr. Satyendra Kumar,faculty of agriculture and second unit Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Shukla ,department of teacher’s education .
Currently, Jhunjhunwala has adopted two villages for community work. They are Hasapur and Paligar Sahbadi. We are aiming to develop personality and to inculcate services to the community and less . In the adopted village, NSS volunteers have to complete 120 hours of regular activities throughout one academic year. The volunteer has to remain in constant touch with the villages . 7 days and nights special camps are also organised .A student volunteer who has completed 240 hrs of work and attended a special camp during the course of two years is eligible for National Service Scheme (NSS) certificate from the University. This certificate gives weightage for higher studies and is an additional qualification for appointment in public services.
